The session 2020-21 was indeed an unusual one. Online schooling changed the education landscape dramatically and quickly, with classrooms shifting to homes and technology playing a huge role in the way knowledge was transacted. As teachers, students and their parents adapted with this shift, it became all the more important to draw emphasis on Environment Education. To strengthen the learning of the environment, an initiative called GSP Waste Transformers was put forward by the Centre for Science and Environment. Around 800 schools submitted their action plans for efficient Waste Management, out of which, 126 schools were selected to become members of the GSP Forum of Schools that Segregate. It was an initiative to make schools zero-waste zones. Only 8 schools were given a green rating all over India, for their innovative plans to devise an efficient Waste Management strategy at their school. Queen’s Valley School ranked one of them and was highly appreciated for its unique and effective Waste management Action Plan at an event on 17th April, 2021.
