Visit to National Small Industries Corporation (Class XI-Commerce)

On 26th June 2024, Class XI Commerce students visited the National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC), Okhla. The visit included a workshop and session where students learned about India’s economic history and the impacts of privatization, globalization, and integration. Key initiatives like “Make in India” and “Vocal for Locals” were discussed, focusing on the Entrepreneurship Development Program (EDP) that encourages skill development and business startups with government support. The session also covered the roles of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in providing vocational and management training, emphasizing the importance of improving one’s standard of living.

 

After the session, the students toured the NSIC facilities and the incubator centre, gaining hands-on experience with various machines and learning about different industries’ operational aspects. This part of the visit provided valuable insights into machinery functionality, required skills, and labour involved in industrial processes. Overall, the visit was informative and inspiring, equipping the students with knowledge about entrepreneurship and available government resources.

    On June 21st 2024, Queen’s Valley School enthusiastically celebrated the International Day of Yoga, a day dedicated to promoting physical, mental, and spiritual well-being through the practice of yoga. This annual event brought together students, teachers, and parents in a harmonious union of mind and body, fostering a deeper understanding of yoga’s profound benefits.

    The day commenced with a serene and energizing yoga session led by certified instructors where they also focussed on this year’s theme that is, ‘Yoga for Self and Society’. Participants engaged in various yoga asanas (postures) and pranayama (breathing exercises), aimed at enhancing flexibility, strength, and relaxation. 

    Parallel to the yoga sessions, educational workshops were conducted for class X students to educate them about the origins and principles of yoga. These sessions highlighted the historical significance of yoga in Indian culture and its global relevance as a holistic health practice. Students gained insights into how yoga can contribute to stress management, mental clarity, and overall well-being.

    To enrich the experience, the students of class XII also visited Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga. Additionally, students learned about the employment prospects in this profession and underscored the interconnectedness of yoga with India’s rich heritage, offering a glimpse into the traditional arts that often accompany yoga practice. This inclusive approach resonated with the school’s commitment to holistic education and community engagement.

      The P.N. Panicker National Reading Month celebrations for 2024 at Queen’s Valley School, held from 19th June to 19th July, exemplified a vibrant amalgamation of literary fervor and educational engagement under the CBSE Reading Mission and Initiatives. The month-long event saw enthusiastic participation from students spanning pre-primary to Class XII, alongside dedicated involvement from teachers fostering a love for reading across languages—English, Hindi, Sanskrit and French.

      Activities such as the Reading Marathon featured innovative programs like कथा सागर, अनंत ज्ञान, पुस्तकावलोकन, and अमृत मंथन, aimed at fostering a love for reading across diverse genres and languages. Author interactions enriched students’ literary understanding, while storytelling sessions, including Visual Tales Unfolded and Journey Through Pages, captivated audiences with narrative prowess.

      A spectrum of reading competitions—from Lyrical Joy to Poetry Illustration, Scene Enactment, Crosswords and Literary Trivia—challenged and inspired participants, reinforcing the celebration’s theme of embracing books and digital reading platforms. The initiative also encouraged library visits and book donations by students, promoting a culture of sharing knowledge and resources. In conclusion, the month-long celebrations not only celebrated the joy of reading but also underscored the school’s commitment to nurturing holistic literary skills among its students.

        Queen’s Valley School organized a comprehensive 10-day workshop from 18th to 30th of June on Self-Defense focusing particularly on addressing challenges faced by women. The workshop was conducted by experts from Special Police Unit for women and children of Delhi Police, Ms. Snehlata and Ms. Pooja Sharma. It aimed to empower both students and teachers with practical knowledge and techniques.

        The workshop began with an insightful discussion led by the eminent resource people on the prevalent issues concerning women’s safety in today’s society. They shared real-life scenarios to underscore the importance of awareness and preparedness.

        The participants then engaged in practical training sessions where they learned various self-defense tactics. The experts demonstrated fundamental techniques from boxing, highlighting their effectiveness in diffusing and escaping threatening situations. Participants gained a deeper understanding of situational awareness and the significance of staying alert in public spaces. Basic boxing moves were taught, emphasizing how to utilize body strength effectively for self-defense purposes. The workshop aimed to instill confidence among attendees, empowering them to react decisively when confronted with potential danger.

        In conclusion, the self-defense workshop, organized in collaboration with the Delhi Police, proved to be an enriching experience. It equipped attendees with practical skills and raised awareness about personal safety, crucial for fostering a safe and secure environment. Additionally, students received certificates for completing the self-defense course.

          On account of World Environment Day (June 5), our school spearheaded a series of impactful events under the banner of ‘Mass Mobilization on Mission LiFE’ (Lifestyle for Environment). With a focus on sensitizing and engaging students towards sustainable practices, various activities were conducted for the students of classes VI-XII.

          The students of class XII took charge of a spirited plastic clean-up campaign, advocating against single-use plastic through vibrant posters, slogans, and a rally near school premises.  A school-wide pledge to safeguard the environment echoed through the halls, while Class IX students actively participated in waste segregation, installing dustbins for effective waste management.

          Under the ‘Magic for Index Finger’ initiative, Eco Club students diligently labelled switches to promote energy conservation. A thorough audit of the canteen emphasized sustainable food habits. E-waste awareness campaigns were also organized by students across different school sections.

          Additionally, students from classes VI-XII were encouraged to explore the Mission LiFE resources, including publications and media galleries, fostering a deeper understanding of environmental stewardship.

          Through these concerted efforts, our school community reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing a greener, more sustainable future.
