28.11.2019-30.11.2019: CBSE REGIONAL SCIENCE EXHIBITION (2019-20)

QVS added yet another feather to its cap by qualifying for the CBSE National Level Science Exhibition.

The CBSE Regional Level Science Exhibition was held from 28th to 30th November, 2019 at Birla Vidya Niketan School, Pushp Vihar. Vinanti Sohanvi (XI D) and Sania Kataria (XI B) displayed the research-based model titled Soap Nutty Culture- Use and Reuse under the sub-theme Sustainable Agricultural Practices. The aim of the project was to ensure that water scarcity is reduced to its minimum levels, and to develop alternatives to ensure the same. The project was highly appreciated by the judges.

24.10.2019 National Astrotoon Competition by SPACE India at Bal Bharti Public School, PitamPura

QVS participated in the National Astrotoon Competition conducted by SPACE-India to celebrate United Nations declared – World Space Week 2019. The competition was held at Bal Bharti Public School, PitamPura on 24th October 2019. The participants illustratedstorylinecartoonstrips on the theme of the year – The Moon: Gateway to the Starsrecognizing the 50th anniversary of the first human footprints ontheMoon.

It is a proud moment for QVS as Shaurya Singh Bhadauria of class XII-D secured second position in the competition. Heartiest congratulations to Shauryafor this wonderful achievement.

03.11.2019: SHOT 2019 (SPACE HeliOdyssey Test 2019) by SPACE India

It is a proud moment for the school as Arushi Arora (XII B) has won a fully paid trip to Kerala to study the Annular Solar Eclipse of 26th December 2019. She participated in SHOT 2019 (SPACE HeliOdyssey Test 2019) which is SPACE’s sixth student’s scientific solar expedition to chase, study and admire solar eclipses. She is among the top 40 rank holders in the online MCQ exam which was held on 3rd November 2019.

She will attend a one-day training/orientation session, to be conducted in Delhi, in the third week of November 2019 to get an orientation to the whole expedition. She will also receive a science kit, get introduced to her fellow team members, receive the itinerary for the expedition and receive training on all the science, experiments and equipments.

Three more students were among the top 200 students in the SHOT Exam. Shradha Srivastav (X C) will be awarded with a 76 mm Reflector Telescope with Solar Filter and Nishika Yadav(VI D) and Vitasta Bakshi(VII E) will be awarded with a 50 mm Refractor Telescope with Solar Filter. Congratulations to all the winners.

All India 2nd Korea-India Friendship Painting Competition 2019 was organized by Korean Cultural Centre India. The competition was open to Class 1 to 12 students wherein students had to draw painting on a given topic and send the entries. Avishi Sharma of class IV B has made the school proud by winning Third position in the Junior Group. She has been awarded with prize money of Rs. 2000 and a trophy.

THE MAKING OF MAHATMA- MAXFORT SCHOOL DWARKA

In Collaboration with Spic Macay, Maxfort School Dwarka organized a talk by the Indian actor Mr Rajit Kapoor who portrayed the powerful role of Mahatma Gandhi in the 1996 film ‘The Making of the Mahatma’ on 27 September, 2019. The veteran actor talked about the relevance of Gandhian values in today’s world, films based on the revered leader and his experience essaying the ‘Father of the Nation’. Siya Ojha (V D) and Amrita Gautam Pal (V F) whole heartedly participated in the question/answer session with the lead actor of the film.

18TH NATIONAL UCMAS (ABACUS &MENTAL ARITHMETIC COMPETITION 2019)

It is a proud moment for the school as Shivani Pratap of V D has secured 5th Runner Up position at 18th National UCMAS (Abacus & Mental Arithmetic Competition 2019) held on 20th July 2019 at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Stadium in Kolkata. All the state Level Champions from all over India participated in it.

Pen to Paper: A Unique Writing Experience

This initiative called Pen to Paper by Edupeer and ICICI Lombard empowers young brains by letting them give a free flow to their creative instincts and, thus follow their heart. KiranGoswami (XII A) participated in the contest and was among the 20 finalists who got the opportunity to be mentored by a panel of published authors from India, Australia, Germany and Sri Lanka to write their anthology. The contest began with 10,000 teenagers from across India, from 45+ cities and 150+ schools participating in the online round. The best 150 entries were chosen and multiple workshops were conducted by well-known authors to teach elements of good writing to these students (online and offline). In the final round, the best 20 submissions were chosen as the winners. The competition helped the participants to strive hard in order to make a niche for themselves in the world of publishing. Kiran’s poem Ecdysis has been published in the anthology titled ‘Pen to Paper’. The book launch celebrated the young talent and inspired them to function as sensitive future writers.

GEO GENIUS, NATIONAL GEOGRAPHY OLYMPIAD

Ayana Singh of VII C emerged as the National topper by securing All India Rank 3rd in Geo Genius Geography Olympiad in Junior Category for the classes 5th – to 7th held in Mumbai, Maharashtra on 28th April 2019.

14th State Level UCMAS Abacus and Mental Arithmetic Competition was organized at St. Columba’s School, Gole Market, New Delhi on 28th April 2019. Over 2000 enthusiastic and talented children participated from all across Delhi. Shivani Pratap of V D secured Champion Position (Rank 1) and received a cheque worth Rs. 2100.
