BOOK REVIEW
In November 2022, Ms. Shivi, from English faculty published a paper in a UGC funded peer- reviewed journal, ‘The Book Review’. The paper is based on Norwegian author, Hans Sande’s two marvellous works, ‘Frog’ and ‘When I came Home, the Horse was Gone’. ‘The Book Review’, India’s first review journal in English, was started in 1976 by Chitra Narayanan, Uma Iyengar and Chandra Chari. It provides critical, in-depth reviews of books published in India and abroad on a variety of subjects — social sciences, humanities, fiction, management, environment, art, culture, science and children’s literature thus rendering a signal service to book lovers and scholars all over the country, including the small mofussil towns where access to the latest publications is difficult. The paper, luckily published right after the renowned author’s interview, contains in depth research about how the two books provide an insight into children’s psyche and their struggle. Sande’s work is illustrative and is critically analysed in the paper.
All roads that lead to success have to pass through the hard work boulevard at some point.

Budding Scholastic Authors
A writer is someone for whom writing is more difficult than it is for other people.
–Thomas Mann
QVS is thrilled to announce the publication of “A Library of 19,” an anthology by Scholastic featuring short stories by Anshika Raj and Anika Gahlot of Class X-B. Not only were they both selected through a rigorous process conducted for young writers across the country, they were also mentored by TOI, Femina, Mail Today, India Currents and Children’s Magazine writer Madhumita Gupta. Under her guidance, Anshika and Anika engaged in multiple brain-racking and insightful sessions. ‘The Winged Oinktist’ by Anshika speaks of a phrase we use much in daily life, yet never wonder if it were to ever be true. While, Anika’s ‘Is Someone There?’ is a thrill read, talking of found-family and acceptance. Both newly turned authors express their love for writing to have emerged from their devotion to reading from a young age which quickly turned to them trying their hand at writing something of their own. A copy of ‘A Library of 19’ is available at the library for students and teachers to borrow, and we hope to see more published texts with such distinguished penmanship from our queens! QVS wishes them the very best. The link for access to the stories has been mentioned below: CLICK TO ACCESS
