At QVS, we embrace the philosophy of experiential learning or ‘learning by doing’ to foster an enriching educational environment for our young learners. Our kindergarten curriculum is meticulously designed to align with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, emphasizing Early Childhood Care and Education, in the foundational years of a child.
Our approach ensures that each child's holistic development is prioritized, focusing on emotional, social, cognitive, and physical growth. We provide a nurturing environment where our young learners, referred to as ‘princesses’, engage in age-appropriate, hands- on activities. Children also require diligent support for the development of their physiological and motor skills to attain literacy, numeracy and creative and aesthetic sensibilities.
This marks a departure from the prevailing system of merely learning from books to a more congenial play-way and competency-based learning system. Our curriculum integrates best practices to achieve holistic development or Panchkosha Vikas.
Our curriculum is based on –
1. Student-Centered Learning: We believe in encouraging self-directed activity and hands-on learning.
- Play Way
- Art in Education (AIE)
- Theatre in Education (TIL)
- Concept-Based Integrated Learning (CBIL)
2. Collaborative and Social Learning: We emphasize the importance of social collaboration and group work. Children engage in cooperative activities where their thoughts, questions and contributions are valued. This fosters a sense of community and equality, preparing them for future social interactions and collaborative endeavors (21st century skills).
3. 360-Degree Approach: We implement a 360-degree approach to subjects, ensuring a comprehensive understanding through multiple perspectives and experiential learning. This method supports diverse learning styles and encourages children to explore and learn in ways that are meaningful to them.
By adhering to these principles, our curriculum not only aligns with the recommendations of National Curriculum Framework – Foundational Stage (NCF-FS), but also provides a supportive, engaging and effective learning environment for our students.
The primary stage of education is vital for every child, as it establishes the essential foundations for literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking. At QVS, we go beyond traditional teaching methods, encouraging innovative thinking that prepares students for future challenges.
To support optimal development, we maintain manageable class sizes and a favorable student-teacher ratio. Our holistic approach nurtures every aspect of a child's growth—social, physical, emotional, cultural, and spiritual—alongside academic excellence.
We follow the Central Board for Secondary Education curriculum, closely aligned with the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) of India. This curriculum is designed to foster:
- Holistic development of the child
- A stress-free and engaging learning environment
- Emphasis on skill-based education
- Concept-based integrated learning
Additionally, our curriculum includes experiential learning opportunities, such as hands-on projects and community involvement, to enhance real-world understanding and application. This comprehensive and enriching approach makes QVS a preferred choice for parents seeking a well-rounded education for their children.
The middle years' curriculum builds on the strong foundation established in the primary years, transitioning students to a more formal yet dynamic and student-centered approach. Aligned with NCERT-prescribed syllabi and CBSE guidelines, the curriculum emphasizes experiential learning through CBIL (Concept-Based Integrated Learning) and VBIL (Value-Based Integrated Learning), where real-world challenges and ethical values shape the learning process.
STREAM(Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education continues to play a pivotal role, encouraging hands-on activities that develop critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills. In addition to this, the integration of AIE (Art in Education) and TIE (Theatre and Technology Integrated Education) ensures that students are not just consumers of technology but are actively learning how to create and innovate using modern tools. Coding, robotics, and digital literacy are embedded in the curriculum to prepare students for future careers in an increasingly tech-driven world.
The curriculum also emphasizes holistic progress, nurturing students' research and application skills. Teamwork is actively encouraged through collaborative projects, fostering camaraderie, communication, and leadership abilities. Students are guided to reflect on their learning and work both independently and in groups, helping them develop time management, accountability, and resilience. Life skills such as empathy, emotional intelligence, and conflict resolution are woven into daily learning experiences, ensuring students' all-round development.
The middle years’ curriculum is designed to prepare students to confidently meet the academic and social challenges of the senior years, laying a strong foundation for lifelong learning, adaptability, and global citizenship.
There is greater academic orientation and research skills involved in core academic areas at the secondary and senior secondary level. Teaching learning methods are more focused on individualised learning to ensure that students acquire substantial knowledge and skills through academic rigor.
At QVS, we employ diverse approaches for transacting the curriculum. We promote experiential learning among students with a focus on reflecting, connecting with the world around them, inferring meaning and building perspectives. The role of an educator is that of a facilitator who encourages collaborative learning and gaining of multiple skills through generous use of resources including teaching learning materials (TLMs), field experiments, lab experiments to enable development of new skills, attitudes, and ways of thinking.
We believe that every learner should get the opportunity to think laterally, critically, identify opportunity, advance their potential and be open to challenges. We employ the flipped classroom approach, where students engage in independent research and dedicate the class time to engage in constructive discussions, interactive activities, and hands-on projects that reinforce and apply the concepts learned. It is an attempt to cultivate maturity, accountability and self reliance, and induce the ability to take responsibility for learning.
We truly believe in 360 degree development of our students and that learning extends beyond the classroom. By integrating curricular and co-curricular activities, we aim to develop not only academic skills but also social, emotional, and physical competencies in our students. This holistic approach prepares them for future challenges and opportunities. In order to mainstream Health and Physical Education, as per CBSE guidelines, QVS has administered HPE (Health and Physical Education) and SEWA (Social empowerment through work Education and Action) as an integral component of the curriculum, in order to ensure that students connect meaningfully with their peers, their elders, the community and the environment. By creating a seamless connection between what students learn in the classroom and how they engage outside of it, we aim at inculcating twenty-first century skills in them shaping global citizens and leaders of tomorrow.
At the secondary level, we offer a diverse range of subjects that provide a strong foundation for higher education.
